On September 4–5 of this year, the Forum of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Uzbekistan and Latvia is being held in the Latvian capital, Riga, at the initiative of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia.
 Among the heads of more than 40 universities from both countries, the rector of the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service, Professor Pulatov Muhiddin Egamberdiyevich, is participating in the forum.
 The event focuses on discussing new joint projects, developing academic and scientific programs, establishing research centers and laboratories, organizing short-term internships, lectures, seminars, and master classes, attracting investment, and signing dozens of inter-university cooperation agreements.
 The official opening ceremony of the forum took place at the historic House of the Blackheads ceremonial palace. The event was officially opened by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Kungirotboy Sharipov, and the President of the Latvian Rectors’ Association, Arvids Barševskis, who noted the dynamic development of cooperation between the higher education systems of the two countries in recent years.
