The International Professional Development Course on Education for Sustainable Development Successfully Concluded at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

The "Entrepreneurship and Innovation" Center of the Department of Economics of the Higher School of Economics and Business of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University organized a professional development course on the topic "Education for Sustainable Development: Approaches and Practices for Implementing the SDGs," held from May 11 to 23, 2026.
The course was designed and taught by Associate Professor Nurmanova Biken Zeynullovna. The program examined contemporary approaches to integrating the principles of sustainable development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the educational process, issues of developing competencies in the field of sustainable development, and the best international practices for implementing the SDGs in higher education.
The participants of the course were faculty members of the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan: Kurbanova R.J., Urazov D.K., Abdullaeva Z.I., Qurbonov J.M., Mirzaxadjaeva Sh.Sh., Eshniyozov B.D., Mirzaeva Sh.N., Dusmatov B.O., Pashaxodjaeva D.D.
During the training, the participants gained up-to-date knowledge on issues of sustainable development, exchanged experience in implementing the SDGs in educational and research activities, and discussed prospects for developing international cooperation in the field of education for sustainable development.
The holding of this course was an important step in strengthening academic ties between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and also contributed to the development of faculty members' professional competencies in the field of sustainable development and the implementation of the UN global 2030 Agenda.
Upon completion of the program, the participants were awarded certificates of completion of the professional development course.
The Higher School of Economics and Business of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University continues to actively develop international cooperation and introduce the best educational practices aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
